About me:
I completed in 2011 the degree in Biology in University of Salamanca, Spain. I then moved to Madrid and obtained the Official Master in Biotechnology in Agroforesty title, organized by the Department of Biotechnology of the Technical University of Madrid. Shortly after that, I started my Ph.D thesis at the Bioinformatics Group at the Center for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics (CBGP-UPM) under the supervision of Dr. Mark D Wilkinson and Dr. Ane Sesma Galarraga. In 2016, I successfully obtained my Ph.D after defending my thesis, entitled: "FAIR approaches applied to unraveling Plant-Pathogen Interactions Data and RNA Processing Evolution". The thesis was the result of combining Semantic Web technologies (Ontology modeling/building), Data management (FAIR Principles) and exploration of biological data per se (plant-pathogen interactions / RNA Metabolism Evolution).
About my work:
At the moment, I'm working as a Post-Doctoral fellow in the Wilkinson Laboratory of Biological Informatics.
My research interests are focused mainly in the field of Plant Pathology and the Semantic Web technologies. Since the formal publication of the FAIR Principles of Data management, we are exploring how these principles can be used to make science more transparent. When data and knowledge is FAIR, it becomes easier to find, and therefore easier to validate against prior biological knowledge and data. Therefore, my main line of work is now focused on adapting and improving the establishment of these guidelines into the overall scientific production of the Center for Biotechnology and Plant Genomics.
